Berry Patch Farms

Berry Patch Farms, just south of Brighton, is a favorite weekend destination for Denver area residents: throughout most of the summer, visitors fan out into the farm's fields to fill their baskets with currants, raspberries and strawberries. It's an especially fun place for kids, who enjoy tractor rides through the fields, seeing eye-to-eye with a giant turkey, and picnic lunches in the same of the giant cottonwood trees. Tim and Claudia Ferrell have thirty acres under organic cultivation. In addition to their rows and rows of berries, they tend to an orchard of peaches, plums and pie cherries, and grow a huge variety of vegetables, including Claudia's astonishing variety of peppers. The farm's market, housed in a beautiful red barn, is a popular stop for just-picked produce, the farm's own honey and eggs, and neighbors' grass-fed beef and naturally-raised chicken. Our guests are greeted by the farm's free-ranging chickens, ducks, and pot-bellied pig, and enjoy and apéritif on the barn's porch before sunset.
